Merewyn E. “Libba” Lyons
Dr. Lyons holds a Professional Educator’s Certificate from the State of Florida in Educational Leadership (all levels), English for Speakers of Other Languages (K-12), World Languages – French (K-12), and Prekindergarten/Primary Education (Age 3 – Grade 3). She earned her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, her Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Regent University, and her Bachelor of Science degree in Languages and Linguistics from Georgetown University.
Dr. Lyons is retired as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, where she earned two Navy Achievement and two Navy Commendation medals. During her naval career, she served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba; two tours in Washington, DC; Chesapeake, Virginia, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Omaha, Nebraska.
She has 15 years’ of experience as a teacher and school administrator at the elementary and secondary levels. With over 7 years’ of experience as a grant developer, she has successfully developed grants valued in excess of $65 million. She is a member of the Grant Professionals Association and Association of Proposal Management Professionals.
Dr. Lyons is currently assisting client school districts in Florida and Minnesota to develop grant applications in support of their efforts to implement Demonstration Schools as well as district and school leadership programs. She is also involved in grant making with the Heart of Florida United Way as a member of their Healthy Children and Families Cabinet, providing grants to non-profit social services organizations in the Orlando area.
