Nancy Updegraff received her administrative certification from University of Illinois and is also certified as a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader. She has a long history as an education practitioner, having served as a principal, assistant principal, and curriculum director for several Illinois school districts. She worked with districts and administrators to develop data teams and PLCs through several grants, including Ready to Teach, Leadership, and I3. She has also mentored principals as part of SIG grants in major cities throughout the United States.
While serving as a national consultant for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Dr. Updegraff conducted administrative academies in large cities, including Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, New Orleans, New York, and San Diego. She has developed administrator materials, mentored principals in conducting walk-throughs, and created professional development for teachers based on classroom observations.
