When leaders and teachers work together to challenge students to think at higher levels, an extraordinary transformation occurs. We’re passionate about this process, and everything we do is designed to help schools bring it about in a very sustainable way.
Supported by a multi-year grant from the Wallace Foundation, Des Moines Public Schools has partnered with Learning Sciences International to become a Model District for Rigor. Over time, every school in the district will grow into a Demonstration School for Rigor. Eventually, all schools will be well-equipped to sustain the progress.
As an urban district, DMPS is gearing up to implement LSI’s Demonstration Schools for Rigor throughout the 2016-17 school year. The goal? To transform instruction so that all classrooms exhibit rigorous teaching and learning.
“This is about reducing initiatives so we can have a laser-like focus on strong core instruction for every kid, every single day.” — Matt Smith, Des Moines Public Schools Chief of Schools
