Dr. Amy James is a clinical and forensic psychologist specializing in answering psychological questions within a legal context. Her primary areas of practice include assessment in the course of criminal proceedings, juvenile matters, and civil (family and juvenile) court. She routinely consults with attorneys in matters of visitation, child custody, adult guardianship, and case preparation. Dr. James is a nationally recognized expert on school threat assessment and management and she provides training and consultation to organizations and government entities on this topic.
Dr. James is an Air Force Veteran (psychologist) and, in addition to clinical and forensic psychological services, has extensive experience in program development, project management, leadership, and executive consultation. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers, Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, North Carolina Psychological Association, and the American Psychology-Law Society (Div 41, APA), and the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals.
