Daniel R. Venables has been in education for over 30 years, 25 of them as an award-winning high school math teacher and department chair. In 2010, he left the classroom and founded the Center for Authentic PLCs and The Grapple™ Institutes that grew from the Center’s consulting work training teacher leaders to build, lead, and sustain authentic professional learning communities in their schools. He has written three best-selling books on the subject: The Practice of Authentic PLCs: A Guide to Effective Teacher Teams (Corwin, 2011), How Teachers Can Turn Data Into Action (ASCD, 2014), and Facilitating Teacher Teams and Authentic PLCs: The Human Side of Leading People, Protocols, and Practices (ASCD, 2018). His newest book, Deliberate Honor: Implementing Student-Run Honor Councils in Secondary Schools, came out this year.
